My Favorite Footballer

When i was in college, he is my favorite footballer. Even now, he is still my favorite. I will play defender role when I'm playing football or futsal because I've model to follow how to play that role. He is an Italiano who doesn't have a very big name but i think everybody will agree that he is one of the most talented footballers of his generation and one of the best defender in the world. In World Cup 2006 final, I'm very disappointed because cannot see him in action due to injury. His nation has won that championship and his teammates and captain of Italy, Fabio Cannavaro has named as Defender of The Year and also first ever defender named as Player of The Year.

Admitted that his replacement, Marco Materazzi also is the best defender in the world, but i've strongly believed that Azzuri's defence will be more fantastic with combination of Cannavaro and my favorite, Alessandro Nesta.

Alessandro Nesta was born on March 19, 1976 in Rome, Italy. He currently plays centre back for Italian Serie A Giant, AC Milan. He retired from international after won the World Cup 2006. Ex-Coach Roberto Donadoni unsuccessfully tried to persuade him to come out of retirement for EURO 2008. He has been capped 78 times for Italy, and participated in EURO (1996, 2000, 2004) and World Cup (1998, 2002 and 2006)

In his career, he only play for two clubs, Lazio and AC Milan. But untill now, he have won so many championship and title and also won the Serie A defence of the year for 2000-2003 and runner-up for 2004-2007. He also was included in Pelé's selection of the 125 greatest living footballers in FIFA 100.

A bit obout his personal life, he married his fiancée, Gabriela Pagnozzi, in a civil ceremony in Montreal; the religious ceremony followed on May 30, 2007. Gabriela was working for Casa Italia, the Italian national team HQ, during the 1998 World Cup. Their relationship was born when she tended to him following his injury against Austria.

"I can say, I got the injury and her in France then. And the injury has gone, [but] she has stayed with me."

Their daughter, Sofia, was born on October 19, 2006 and on March 20, 2008 their son Tommaso was born.

For me, he is "The Gladiator" in the world of football.
