Germany 1 - 2 England

England captain John Terry's header six minutes from time sealed a 2-1 win over Germany in Wednesday's friendly at Berlin's Olympiastadion as Fabio Capello's weakened team beat the UEFA EURO 2008 runners-up.

It was England who scored first when they were rewarded for an early piece of pressure. Their second corner in quick succession was swung in and Germany goalkeeper Rene Adler looked to have been hindered by Jermain Defoe as he went to punch the ball clear. In the resulting scramble, Upson was the sharpest to react and stabbed the ball home on 23 minutes to put the visitors ahead as England controlled the first half with Germany's attack rarely threatening.

The plenty of changes by Loew worked in Germany's favour as a horrible mix-up in the England defence between Terry and West Bromwich Albion shot-stopper Carson saw the ball bobble to Helmes who fired into an empty net on 63 minutes to equalise. But Terry rectified the situation with time running out when he rose higher than his marker Heiko Westermann to header past Wiese to give England the winner.

This was the 31st meeting between the old rivals with England pulling further ahead in the series with 15 wins now compared to Germany's 11 victories.

Scotland 0 - 1 Argentina

Diego Maradona's first match as head coach of Argentina ended with a 1-0 friendly win over Scotland at Hampden Park on Wednesday.

Maradona, who as one of football's greatest players inspired Argentina to victory at the 1986 FIFA World Cup™ had demanded a fighting performance from the South Americans before this game. But Maxi Rodriguez's eighth minute goal was all that separated the sides at full-time after Argentina, who made a lively start, faded after the interval.

Scotland recorded a famous friendly win over then world champions Argentina at Hampden in 1990, but they never looked like they were going to repeat the feat despite a better second-half performance.

Greece 1 - 1 Italy

The reigning world champions needed a goal from 31-year-old Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni to force the draw when in the 54th minute he headed home after a perfect free kick from teammate Daniele De Rossi.

Four minutes earlier the Greeks had taken a 1-0 lead when second half substitute Fanis Gekas scored from up close after taking a pass from Alexandros Tziolis who cleverly split the Italian defense. It was the first time that Greece had scored against Italy since 1981.

With both teams using a number of new players, the match had very few outstanding moments and failed to excite the small crowd of 8,000. The few times that the visitors had scoring opportunities they were swept away by Panathinaikos' keeper Alexandros Tzorvas who was making his debut.

Spain 3 - 0 Chile

Spain had no problems beating Chile in their friendly international at Villarreal's Madrigal stadium to keep up an unbeaten record which has lasted for two years

David Villa opened the scoring from the penalty spot shortly before half time after Riera was tripped by Tello in the area. Fernando Torres came on after the break to pick up a pass from Xavi and cut past a defender to score his side'second and his 18th international goal. Torres' Liverpool club-mate Jose Reina made a great save from Suazo just moments later, producing a brilliant one-handed save to keep out Suazo's header.

One of the biggest cheers of the night then came with four minutes to go when Villarreal midfielder Cazorla netted his first Spain goal, as his shot from the edge deflected past Bravo to complete the scoring. fifa
