Tottenham Hotspur became the first team to reach the fourth round of this year's FA Cup.
Harry Redknapp's men edged to a 3-1 win over Barclays Premier League rivals Wigan Athletic at White Hart Lane. After a tight and even first half, the home side took the lead from the penalty spot on 52 minutes.
Fraizer Campbell was brought down by goalkeeper Richard Kingson as he chased a through-ball by Gareth Bale and Roman Pavlyuchenko stroked home the spot-kick sending the keeper the wrong way. Spurs doubled their lead after 76 minutes when Jamie O'Hara's 30-yard shot came back off a post and was diverted in by the head of Luka Modric on the ground.
However the visitors grabbed a lifeline two minutes from time when Henri Camara forced home from close range following a shot by Maynor Figueroa. As Wigan pushed forward in search of an equaliser, they were caught on the break in stoppage time when Pavlyuchenko grabbed his second goal with a beautifully struck shot following a good run by Didier Zokora.
